Wim van der Meij
discovered etching in 1977 and he was immediately fascinated by this old technique, that entails working with a steel point in a layer of wax on a copper plate.
The plate is then put in acid where the drawn lines become indentations in the plate.
Printing is done by covering the copper plate with ink and then wiping the surplus off. After that the plate is rolled through a heavy press with a sheet of damp paper.
A number of up to some 300 prints can be made of the plate.

Since 1986 Wim has earned his living with etching. He has been on the Artplein-Spui market most Sundays for many years, and from that art market his work has found its way across the world.
He also exhibited his work in galleries and museums in The Netherlands and other countries.
